Terms and Conditions
Version 1.0. Last updated: 15 October 2026.
1. About these Terms
These Terms and Conditions apply to the use of Dozo, the Dozo app, the website dozoapp.app and related services.
Dozo is an app that allows groups of friends to capture photos and videos together within a private event. Content may remain locked during the event and become available later through daily recaps, final recaps and other parts of Dozo.
By creating a Dozo account and agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you enter into an agreement with Dozo.
Please read these Terms before using Dozo.
2. Who provides Dozo?
Dozo is provided by:
Pepijn Kreffer
The Netherlands
Email: [email protected]
Website: dozoapp.app
For questions about these Terms or Dozo, you can contact us at [email protected].
3. Who may use Dozo?
Dozo is intended for people aged 16 and older.
When you create an account, Dozo may use your date of birth to verify that you meet this age requirement.
You may not create an account if you are under 16.
You are responsible for providing accurate information when creating and using your account.
4. Your account
Your Dozo account is personal.
You are responsible for the use of your account and for adequately protecting access to your device and account.
You may not:
- use someone else's account without permission;
- impersonate another person;
- create an account using misleading information;
- attempt to bypass Dozo's security measures;
- give others unauthorised access to your account.
If you suspect that someone has gained unauthorised access to your account, please contact Dozo.
5. Events
Dozo uses private events.
Users can create an event or join an event through a valid invitation.
Different roles may exist within an event:
- Owner: has full management rights over the event;
- Admin: can help manage the event and participants;
- Member: can participate in the event and use features available to participants.
The exact capabilities of a role may change as Dozo develops, provided that the core nature of that role is not materially changed without good reason.
An event is not publicly accessible. Only users who have access to that event can view the associated event content according to Dozo's rules.
6. Photos, videos and other content
Users can add photos, videos, audio, captions, text overlays, reactions and other content to Dozo.
The user who adds content remains the owner of that content to the extent that the user holds the relevant rights.
Dozo does not become the owner of your photos or videos.
You are responsible for the content you add to Dozo.
You must ensure that you are legally allowed to create, upload and share the content within the relevant event.
This includes taking into account copyright, portrait and image rights, privacy rights and other rights of people who appear in the content.
People without a Dozo account may also be recognisable in content. Do not upload content if you know, or reasonably should understand, that doing so would be unlawful.
7. What permission do you give Dozo to use your content?
To technically provide Dozo, Dozo needs limited usage rights for content you upload.
You therefore grant Dozo a non-exclusive, royalty-free right, to the extent necessary to provide Dozo, to:
- store your content;
- make technical copies;
- process it;
- compress or convert it;
- render it;
- apply filters, text, thumbnails or other effects you selected;
- include it in a recap;
- make it available to authorised members of the relevant event;
- temporarily process it for an export you request.
This right applies only to the extent necessary to provide and secure Dozo and to perform the functions for which you added the content.
Dozo may also use technical service providers that process files on Dozo's behalf.
This does not give Dozo the right to publish your private content publicly without separate permission or to use it for advertising or other unrelated commercial purposes.
When content is permanently removed from Dozo, this licence ends for that content, except to the extent that temporary technical copies may remain for a limited period or retention is legally required.
8. Locked clips and recaps
An important part of Dozo is that content is not always immediately visible after it has been added.
Depending on the event, clips may remain locked until a configured time is reached or a recap becomes available.
By using Dozo, you understand that:
- a successfully dropped clip may not be immediately viewable;
- daily and final recaps may become available at configured times;
- processing photos and videos may take some time;
- technical delays may cause a recap or rendered clip to become available later than planned.
Dozo aims to respect configured recap times as closely as reasonably possible, but cannot guarantee that technical processing will always be completed at the exact scheduled time.
The normal locking of content within the app does not limit any rights you have under applicable law.
9. Prohibited content and use
You may not use Dozo for activities that violate the law, these Terms or the rights of others.
In particular, the following are prohibited:
- content that is illegal under applicable law;
- sexual material involving minors;
- sexual or intimate imagery shared without consent;
- serious threats, harassment or targeted abuse of others;
- content that incites violence or unlawful discrimination;
- content that seriously infringes another person's privacy without sufficient legal basis;
- content that infringes copyrights, trademarks or other intellectual property rights of others;
- fraud, phishing or deception;
- malware, harmful code or files intended to damage systems;
- spam or automated abuse of Dozo;
- attempts to bypass security, access controls, upload restrictions or other technical measures;
- obtaining or attempting to obtain access to accounts, events, content or systems without permission.
This list is not intended to unnecessarily restrict lawful behaviour. Dozo assesses measures based on the circumstances of each case.
10. Reporting and moderation
Users can report certain content or users within Dozo.
Illegal or potentially unlawful content can also be reported via [email protected].
Please provide enough information for Dozo to assess the relevant content and the issue.
Dozo may investigate reports and, depending on the situation:
- take no action;
- request additional information;
- restrict or remove content;
- warn a user;
- temporarily restrict certain features;
- temporarily suspend an account;
- terminate an account;
- take other reasonable measures necessary to protect users, third parties or Dozo.
Dozo aims to make moderation decisions carefully, objectively and proportionately.
The seriousness of the violation, previous violations, context and potential impact on others may be taken into account.
Dozo uses reports and human review for moderation. Technical systems may also automatically enforce security rules, access controls, blocks and measures against spam or abuse.
If Dozo removes content, restricts access or suspends an account because of content or behaviour, the affected user will, where legally required and reasonably possible, receive information about the reason for that decision.
An explanation may be limited where disclosure is prohibited by law or could seriously harm the security of Dozo, users, investigations or third parties.
11. Appealing a moderation decision
If you disagree with a moderation decision by Dozo, you can contact us at [email protected].
Please provide enough information about your account, the relevant content or decision, and why you believe the decision should be reviewed.
Dozo will review the matter again and may uphold, change or reverse the earlier decision.
Submitting an appeal does not limit any rights you have under applicable law.
12. Blocking users
Dozo may provide features that allow users to block other users.
A block only has effect within the capabilities Dozo provides for that purpose.
Blocking someone does not necessarily mean that all technical data or historical information involving both users is immediately deleted.
Dozo may continue processing block information where necessary to enforce the block, prevent abuse or comply with legal obligations.
13. Availability and technical operation
Dozo aims to keep the service secure and reliably available.
However, Dozo cannot guarantee that the app will always be available without interruption, delay or error.
Maintenance, internet issues, outages at external service providers, App Store services, server issues or other technical circumstances may affect Dozo.
Dozo may perform maintenance and make reasonable technical changes where necessary for:
- security;
- reliability;
- compatibility;
- maintenance;
- improving the service;
- compliance with laws and regulations.
Dozo aims to prevent unnecessary loss of user content and takes appropriate technical measures. However, no digital storage system can guarantee absolute protection against technical loss or damage.
14. Deleting clips, events and accounts
Dozo provides features that allow users to delete certain content, events or their account, depending on their role and permissions.
When a clip is deleted, Dozo may make it immediately inaccessible and then technically remove the associated files.
When an event is deleted, a technical recovery period may apply before all associated data is permanently deleted.
You can delete your Dozo account through the app.
When your account is deleted, data associated with your account is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
If you are the owner of an event with other participants, ownership may be transferred to another participant so that the content and rights of other participants do not automatically disappear.
Dozo cannot delete copies that other event members have stored outside Dozo, for example in their Photos app or as screenshots.
15. When may Dozo restrict or terminate an account?
Dozo may restrict an account or access to certain features where there is a reasonable basis to do so.
This may happen, for example, when:
- you seriously or repeatedly violate these Terms;
- you upload illegal content;
- your account is used for fraud, spam or abuse;
- you attempt to bypass security measures;
- your behaviour creates a real risk to other users or Dozo;
- Dozo is legally required to take action.
Where appropriate, Dozo will first issue a warning and provide an opportunity to change the relevant behaviour.
In cases of serious violations, safety risks or legal obligations, immediate action may be necessary.
Dozo aims to make such decisions as carefully and proportionately as possible.
You can appeal a moderation decision under section 11.
16. Stopping use of Dozo
You can stop using Dozo at any time.
You can delete your account using the relevant feature in the app.
To the extent that applicable consumer law grants you additional cancellation or withdrawal rights, these Terms do not limit those rights.
17. Dozo intellectual property
All rights in Dozo itself remain with Dozo or the relevant rights holder.
This includes, for example:
- the software;
- the Dozo name;
- logos and visual design;
- interfaces;
- Dozo texts;
- Dozo-owned images and illustrations;
- technical systems and other protected parts of the service.
This section does not apply to content users add to Dozo themselves.
You only receive the right to use Dozo normally in accordance with these Terms.
Without permission, you may not copy, sell, exploit or use parts of Dozo in a way that goes beyond normal use of the service, unless the law expressly allows this.
18. External services and the App Store
Dozo uses third-party services to provide the app.
These may include infrastructure, storage, email, location, push notification and App Store services.
The terms of the relevant third party may also apply to certain parts of the service.
If you download Dozo through Apple's App Store, Apple's applicable standard app licence may also apply.
The agreement concerning the Dozo service itself is between you and Dozo, not between you and Apple.
Dozo remains responsible for the Dozo service to the extent required by applicable law and these Terms.
19. Paid features
Version 1.0 of Dozo does not contain an active payment feature or paid Dozo Plus subscription.
Dozo may introduce paid features in the future.
Before you are required to pay for a feature, Dozo will clearly explain:
- what the feature includes;
- the price;
- whether the payment is one-off or recurring;
- which additional terms apply.
Dozo does not charge you solely because you agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
If paid digital services are introduced in the future, applicable statutory consumer rights will continue to apply.
20. Liability
Dozo is responsible for the service to the extent required by applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Dozo is not responsible for loss or damage to the extent it results from circumstances attributable to the user, such as deliberate misuse of the service or giving unauthorised persons access to the account.
Dozo is also not responsible for the actions of other users or for copies of content that other users store outside Dozo, to the extent that Dozo cannot reasonably control those actions.
Dozo uses external technical service providers. An outage at a third party does not automatically make Dozo liable for all resulting loss or damage.
This section does not affect mandatory consumer rights or other legal rights that cannot be contractually limited.
21. Force majeure
Dozo is not responsible for a failure to perform to the extent performance is temporarily or permanently impossible due to circumstances reasonably outside Dozo's control.
Examples may include major internet outages, failure of essential infrastructure, natural disasters, war, government measures or serious outages affecting essential external platform services.
Dozo will make reasonable efforts to limit the consequences of such situations.
22. Changes to Dozo
Dozo may add, change or remove features where there is a reasonable reason to do so.
Changes may not limit users' statutory rights.
If a change materially alters the core of the service for existing users, Dozo will try to inform users in advance in an appropriate way.
23. Changes to these Terms
Dozo may change these Terms and Conditions when, for example:
- Dozo introduces new features;
- the way the service works changes;
- paid features are introduced;
- laws or regulations change;
- security or moderation processes change.
The current version will be published on the Dozo website.
For important changes, Dozo will inform users in an appropriate way, for example through the app or by email.
If a change materially disadvantages a user's position, the user will, where reasonable and legally required, receive advance information about that change.
If you do not want to continue using Dozo after such a change, you can stop using the service and delete your account.
Changes will not be applied retroactively to treat behaviour that was permitted under earlier Terms as a violation.
24. Privacy
The processing of personal data by Dozo is governed by the separate Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy explains, among other things:
- which personal data Dozo processes;
- why Dozo processes that data;
- which parties receive data;
- how long data is retained;
- which privacy rights users have.
The Privacy Policy is available at dozoapp.app/privacy/en/.
25. Dutch law and disputes
The agreement with Dozo is governed by Dutch law.
This choice of law does not deprive consumers of the protection of mandatory provisions that apply under the law of their country of residence.
If a dispute arises, you and Dozo will first try to resolve it together.
You can contact Dozo at [email protected].
If no solution can be reached, the dispute may be submitted to the court that has jurisdiction under applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms limits a consumer's right to use statutory complaint, supervisory or dispute resolution procedures.
26. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be wholly or partly invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
Where possible, the invalid provision will be applied in a lawful manner that most closely reflects its original purpose.
